A Letter from Your President: 2026 Membership Dues

Dear Fellow ASHI Members,

One of the greatest privileges of serving as your ASHI President has been meeting inspectors from across the country. No matter where we live, how long we’ve been in this profession, or how we’ve built our businesses, we share a common purpose: to protect our clients, uphold the highest professional standards, and leave this profession stronger than we found it. That shared responsibility guides every decision your Board of Directors makes.

After careful consideration, the Board has approved a $50 annual dues increase, raising dues from $449 to $499 per year, effective September 1, 2026. This is the first dues increase since 2018. We understand that no one welcomes higher costs. We are home inspectors and business owners, too, and we face the same economic realities you do.

Over the past eight years, the cost of operating a national professional association and credentialing program, including technology, education, member and certification services, advocacy, communications, and events, has risen by roughly 33 percent. Throughout that time, ASHI absorbed those increases through careful financial stewardship because we know every dollar matters to our members. Had dues kept pace with inflation since 2018, they would be nearly $600 today. Maintaining the level of service and value you expect now requires a modest adjustment of $4.17 per month, a small fraction of the fee for a single inspection.

Your dues are an investment in far more than an annual renewal. They fund education and credentialing management and requirements that keep you competitive, provide free continuing education, support InspectionWorld, and uphold the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics that define our profession. They also provide business tools that help members succeed, from the Find an Inspector directory to complimentary logo design and discounted E&O insurance. They also strengthen the profession through our nationwide chapter network, the Mentorship Program, the ASHI Reporter, and ASHI Government Affairs, which ensures inspectors maintain a respected voice at the state and national levels.

You have already seen the results of these investments. Member support has enabled the launch of ASHI Edge, our modern online education platform; the implementation of a new membership database that streamlines renewals, continuing education tracking, and report verification; and the redesign of the ASHI website to better serve members and consumers. These improvements strengthen ASHI today and position our organization for the future.

This increase is not simply about covering today’s expenses; even at $499, ASHI dues remain competitive with those of other national home inspection associations. It is about ensuring ASHI remains financially strong, innovative, and prepared to serve the next generation of home inspectors. For more than 50 years, ASHI has set the standard for professionalism in our industry.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact the ASHI Membership Department at membership@ashi.org.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued trust, commitment to excellence, and investment in ASHI. It is an honor to serve this organization and its members.

Together, we will preserve the legacy we inherited and build an even stronger future for those who follow.

With sincere appreciation,

Lisa Alajajian Giroux
