Background Verified Inspector Program

ASHI is pleased to announce the launch of the Background Verified Inspector (BVI) program. The BVI program allows ASHI members to voluntarily undergo a criminal background check using Sterling.

Benefits of Becoming a Background Verified Inspector (BVI)

  • Use of a BVI digital badge for inspector’s website and email signature
  • Background Verified Inspectors are set apart from their competition
  • Clients have peace of mind during an inspection conducted by a Background Verified Inspector

Application Information

  • U.S. inspectors can click here and Canadian inspectors can click here to fill out the background check application form on Sterling’s website. There is a $28-$75 USD* application fee to be paid to Sterling at the time of the background check.
*The cost of the background check can fluctuate based on the state and county the check is being conducted in.
  • After ASHI receives the report from Sterling, a digital badge will be emailed and an updated ASHI membership badge that includes the BVI logo will be mailed to the member.
  • The BVI logo use is valid for a two-year period. After the two-year period ends, members will be required to resubmit the background check application.

Please note: the report may contain information regarding your criminal history and other background information about you.

A conviction may not prohibit you from obtaining an ASHI membership. Each application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Membership Committee.
