Find An Inspector Search

The Find An Inspector search is ASHI’s flagship search engine to connect homebuyers with ASHI Members. The search allows homebuyers to search for ASHI Inspector and ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) Members in their area and view member profiles to learn more about their expertise and services.
Why it’s Important: The Find An Inspector is a great asset to generate leads and clients for ASHI Inspector and ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) Members. ASHI’s consumer outreach focuses on educating homebuyers about the importance of home inspections and ultimately drives them to use the FAI search during their homebuying process.
How to Access: Visit ASHI’s Find An Inspector search and view your member profile. Please note, this benefit is only available to the ASHI Inspector and ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) levels of membership. Visit the Membership Advancement page to learn more about moving up in the association.

Member Profile Customization

ASHI Members have an online Member Profile that can be customized with their contact information, licensing details, service offerings and company information.
Why it’s Important: The Member Profile is the first impression members will make with new clients searching for a home inspector. ASHI encourages members to complete their profiles to offer homebuyers a solid understanding of their offerings and get more business.
How to Access: Members can fill out and customize their Member Profile using the Profile Editor.

Home Energy Score Assessor Program

ASHI has partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy and I.D. Energy to create a specialized program to give members everything they need to become a Certified Home Energy Score Assessor.
Why it’s Important: This program comes complete with SIM training and Quality Assurance checks, at a discounted rate for ASHI Members. Providing Home Energy Scores can be added to a standard inspection to provide more value to clients or added on as an additional service.

Background Verified Inspector Program

The Background Verified Inspector (BVI) Program conducts background checks for members. After completing the program, members are endorsed as Background Verified Inspectors.
Why it’s Important: Members can offer their clients peace of mind and bolster their professional reputation. Members who become Background Verified Inspectors will have the BVI logo added to their membership badge and use of an electronic BVI badge.
How to Access: All new members must complete background checks through this program, which is valid for two years. Visit the Background Verified Inspector Program to apply or renew today.

Logo Use

ASHI Members are encouraged to use the ASHI logo with their corresponding membership level across all their business platforms and assets.
Why it’s Important: Members use the ASHI logo to inform clients of their ASHI membership and commitment to professional excellence.

Custom Logo Design Service

ASHI offers a free Custom Logo Design Service to create custom logos for members. An ASHI designers will work with member collaboratively to create a company logo.
Why it’s Important: This service is beneficial for those who are new to the industry and want to launch their brand, or for those who want to refresh their brand by updating an existing logo.

ASHI Discount Program

The ASHI Discount Program allows ASHI Members to take advantage of savings across a wide range of products and services that are useful for operating a successful home inspection business.
Why it’s Important: It is important for members to manage their overhead costs. The discounts will help cover the necessities and allow members to use resources in other areas.

Multi-Inspector Program

For companies that employ several inspectors or single operators looking to expand their team, ASHI offers multi-inspector discounts to groups of three or more inspectors.
Why it’s Important: In addition to discounted dues, each company will be assigned a direct representative from the ASHI membership team that will help personalize ASHI’s service to better fit their business needs.

Why it’s Important: ASHI Members get better insurance coverage for less money. There also are many add-ons and special services, such as pre-claims assistance, retirement coverage and equipment coverage, that ASHI Members can add to their plans.

Mentorship Program

The ASHI Mentorship Program helps newer or less experienced home inspectors get the guidance they need to be exceptional home inspectors by pairing them with experienced home inspectors, who volunteer to serve as their mentors.

Why it’s Important: This program will help newer inspectors get the knowledge to become successful, all the while building relationships between members across the nation and will demonstrate the comradery that ASHI is built upon.

How to Access: Members who wish to join the program can sign up as a mentee or to become a mentor.

Foreclosure.com

ASHI has a partnership with Foreclosure.com, a website where users can search local listings of foreclosed homes for sale, with dedicated space compiling local ASHI members who could provide an inspection.

Why it’s Important: This service provided by Foreclosure.com is a quick and effective way to generate leads for ASHI Members of all levels.

Education

InspectionWorld®

InspectionWorld® is ASHI’s annual conference held for home inspection professionals to gather, learn and discuss the various topics about the home inspection industry.
Why it’s Important: The conference pushes the home inspection profession to grow and further develop. World-class education is presented by the brightest minds in the industry, which is shared with the entire membership digitally.
How to Access: Member can learn more about the upcoming InspectionWorld conference or view recordings of courses from past years through the education portal.

ASHI Edge

The ASHI Edge is the association’s education platform that features a catalog of courses that members can take to earn continuing education credits for ASHI and specific state licensing requirements. ASHI members have access to the majority of courses for free as part of their member benefits.
Why it’s Important: Continuing education (CE) is an excellent way for home inspectors to stay on top of emerging trends and obtain the newest information. In addition, these courses count toward the annual CE requirements for ASHI membership, and in some states, can be applied to licensing requirements.

Local ASHI Chapters

ASHI has Chapters across the U.S. that serve as extensions of the association on a regional level, allowing members to interact and network both personally and professionally.

As a member, joining a local chapter offers opportunities to develop professionally through chapter education events, as well as networking with fellow inspectors.

ASHI Reporter magazine

ASHI’s flagship publication, the ASHI Reporter, is a monthly print magazine that covers the “news and views” from across the home inspection industry and beyond.
Why it’s Important: Articles found in the ASHI Reporter cover a range of topics, from technical information and analysis, to opinion pieces that dive into the deeper questions of the profession and business building features.
How to Access: ASHI Members receive the magazine monthly by mail (mailing address must be in US, Canada or Mexico) or can access the digital version online in the ASHI Newsroom. To submit an article to be reviewed and potentially published, upload the article to Media Center.

ASHI Newsroom

The ASHI Newsroom is an online news hub that offers up-to-date information about trends and current events of the home inspection industry.
Why it’s Important: In addition to articles from the ASHI Reporter, the ASHI Newsroom hosts additional web-exclusive content, pieces from guest authors and updates from ASHI National.

Consumer Awareness & Education

ASHI strives to inform the public about the important role that home inspectors play for consumers during the homebuying process.
Why it’s Important: Homebuying can be a lengthy and difficult process for consumers, and they may not consider the home inspection a high priority. ASHI’s mission is to educate them about the home inspection profession and give them the peace of mind that using an ASHI Member can provide during the homebuying process.
How to Access: ASHI encourages its members to educate their clients, so any consumer information on ASHI’s website can be used by members with proper citation to ASHI. Sharing consumer-focused content from the ASHI Newsroom can help inform consumers, as well.

Membership Advancement

ASHI has three levels of membership: Associate, Inspector and ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI).
Why it’s Important: ASHI encourages members to take the opportunity to move up the ranks of membership to become an ACI. Not only does this distinguish members within ASHI and to clients, but also earns a true third-party accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

ASHI Standard of Practice & Code of Ethics

All members are required to adhere to ASHI’s Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics.

ASHI Members have access to the Report Verification Portal where expert verifiers review reports to ensure compliance with the ASHI Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Why it’s Important: Report verification is an important step to advance in ASHI membership to higher levels. Some states require verified reports for state licenses, many of which accept ASHI’s verification.

Board of Directors & Leadership Opportunities

Members that wish to take part in leading the association may serve on the ASHI Board of Directors or one of the many Committees and Task Forces.

A key force within the AGA is InspectPAC, a Political Action Committee whose purpose is to give ASHI Members a voice to express their political views.
Why it’s Important: It is the only federal PAC that directly represents the interest of the home inspection profession in the nation’s political system. ASHI’s InspectPAC is an efficient and cost-effective way for the membership to combine forces and support candidates who reflect their business views.
