How does ASHI use users’ personal information?

Why does ASHI need users’ personal information?

When users purchase a product in ASHI’s Online Store, they need to provide their name, e-mail address, credit card, billing and shipping information. This information allows ASHI to process orders, fulfill orders and send notifications of the order status.

Does ASHI track its users on the website?

Yes. ASHI may collect users’ IP addresses to help diagnose problems with its server and to administer its website. (An IP address is the unique number that is assigned to every computer automatically when it logs onto the Internet.) ASHI also uses IP addresses to monitor visitor traffic patterns and website usage to help ASHI further develop and improve the content and design of its website. Does ASHI’s website use cookies?

Yes. A cookie is a piece of text that can be entered into the memory of a browser. ASHI uses cookies to save user’s ASHI member login so they don’t have to re-enter information each time they log into the password protected “Members” area of the ASHI website and to keep its database free of duplicate records. If users disable cookies, their information will not be saved and will have to be re-entered each time they visit the website. However, ASHI does not store credit card information with the Membership ID within the cookie – that information will have to be entered upon each transaction. This website does not discriminate from the online contact information collected with regard to age. Therefore, it is possible for children, without prior parental consent or parental notification, to submit contact information.

Can users opt out of receiving information?

Yes. All electronic messages users receive from ASHI will always contain unsubscribe instructions. However, ASHI member users cannot opt out of receiving electronic messages pertaining to their specific ASHI membership standing, such as invoices, past due notices and renewal notices. ASHI reserves the right to maintain information about users who have violated ASHI’s Policies and Procedures or who have had their access to ASHI blocked in order to detect repeat offenders.
