ASHI Builds Momentum in 2026
Celebrating a continued push for education, advocacy, and growth

As we move further into 2026, ASHI remains focused on the work that matters most to our members—education, advocacy, and professional support. We are seeing steady progress across these areas, driven by strong engagement from both our members and leadership. The following highlights provide a snapshot of that work and the direction we continue to move as an organization.
ASHI entered 2026 with strong momentum, delivering meaningful progress across education, member services, advocacy, and industry outreach. Recent initiatives reflect a continued focus on strengthening the profession while expanding value for members nationwide.
InspectionWorld 2026 Set the Pace
Held in Philadelphia in February, InspectionWorld 2026 drew strong attendance and engagement from inspectors across the country. The conference offered more than 20 ASHI Continuing Education (CE) credits, with certificates recognized across multiple states.
In addition to technical education, the event highlighted ASHI’s growing community engagement. Sessions hosted by the ASHI Minority Business Council, ASHI Young Professionals, and the Women in Home Inspection Initiative (WHII) were well attended, underscoring the importance of connection, inclusion, and professional development.
Expanding Education and Engagement
ASHI continues to invest in accessible, relevant education. The WHII webinar series remains a key component of that effort, with the April 2026 session, “Expanding Opportunities for Women in Home Inspection,” exploring HUD’s NSPIRE inspection model and career pathways for women in the industry. More on NSPIRE on page 25.
The launch of the ASHI Young Professionals group marks another important step forward. With a successful inaugural webinar and sustained member engagement, the program is helping cultivate the next generation of home inspectors.
New Career Resources for Members
In March, ASHI launched the ASHI Career Center (page 19), powered by YM Careers, to better connect employers and job seekers within the profession. The platform includes a dedicated job board, resume database access, and multi-inspector firm posting capabilities, along with discounted pricing for members.
This resource enhances career mobility while supporting firms seeking qualified talent.
Advocacy That Represents the Profession
ASHI remains actively engaged in legislative advocacy, most notably in response to Georgia SB 458, the Home Inspector Licensing Act. Through a coordinated effort, ASHI worked with industry leaders, communicated directly with legislators, and mobilized members through targeted action alerts.
These efforts reinforced the importance of including professional insight in policy development affecting the home inspection industry.
Outreach to Realtors and Consumers
The newly established Realtor Education Task Force is expanding ASHI’s reach beyond its membership. Led by Roger Herdt and James Jones, the initiative has already delivered presentations to Realtor associations in South Carolina, including Florence, Spartanburg, and Myrtle Beach. Read more about the task force in the July issue of the Reporter.
The use of QR-code-based course distribution is also further increasing accessibility and engagement with ASHI educational content.
Strengthening the Industry Pipeline
ASHI’s partnership with the American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT) program continues to support the next generation of inspectors. Enhanced coordination between training and membership ensures a smoother transition into the profession.
With AHIT’s Expert Package now including a one-year ASHI membership, new inspectors gain immediate access to the resources, standards, and community that support long-term success.
Looking Ahead
These efforts reflect ASHI’s ongoing commitment to advancing the profession through education, advocacy, and strategic growth. As 2026 progresses, the Society remains focused on delivering value, supporting its members, and shaping the future of home inspection.
Lisa Alajajian Giroux is current ASHI President and Past ASHI President 2023. She runs HomeQuest Consultants, a full-service home inspection company based in Milford, Massachusetts, and has more than 26 years of experience.
